Hamburg, 31 January 2023 – A new retailer for Kerpen: the Swedish household and leisure discounter Rusta is opening a branch in Erft Karree. The building permit for the redevelopment of the area has recently been granted by the authorities. This means that redos, the investor, asset and fund manager specialising in large-scale retail properties and owner of the retail park, which comprises around 64,000 m² of lettable space, has succeeded in expanding the tenant mix in Erft Karree with a high-profile brand. Rusta is expected to open its store on an area of around 2,220 m² in the spring of this year. Rusta thus follows the Hammer specialist store, which offered its goods there until July 2022. The lease agreement between redos and Rusta was concluded on a long-term basis. The company, founded in 1986 in the city of Gävle, now has a total of almost 200 retail locations in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany.
Roller extends long-term – dm and Penny also with lease prolongation
The furniture store ROLLER with around 11,000 m² of rental space, which opened in 2010 in Erft Karree, has extended its long-term lease until 2033. The drugstore dm, the discount grocer PENNY, INTERSPORT Drucks and Vino Weinmarkt will also remain at the retail location for the next few years. The Erft Karree retail park has a total of 35 tenants.
“With the opening of the first Rusta store in North Rhine-Westphalia and the extension of the contracts with ROLLER, dm, PENNY, INTERSPORT Drucks and Vino Weinmarkt, we are consolidating our position as the owner of one of the leading retail parks in the region,” says Sebastian Marmar, Director Leasing at redos. “From now on, customers can look forward to an even greater selection of products and services. With the concluded transactions, we are sustainably strengthening the established retail location with well-known and radiant brands.”
The Kolping town of Kerpen is located about 20 km west of Cologne and is the largest town in the Rhine-Erft district. It also has a positive population forecast of around 1.4 per cent for the period up to 2030. Due to its proximity to the Kerpen interchange (A4/A61), the retail location is very easy to reach by motorised private transport.
