In a guest article in “Euro Property” of April 22, 2013, Oliver Herrmann of redos writes that food retailing in Germany is less threatened by online trade than in other European countries. According to Herrmann, reasons for this include the high density of the food retail trade and the large number of discount stores. Also, the delivery of fresh goods ordered online would still be problematic. Retailers should nevertheless respond to e-commerce as it is gaining importance, writes Herrmann.
