The retail industry is currently experiencing “the biggest transformation ever”, states Christine Hager, Managing Director and Head of Shopping Center Asset Management at redos, in the issue 287 of the retail real estate news outlet Handelsimmobilien Report. According to Hager, over-the-counter retail will remain the most important point of contact for customers in most product groups in 2019. In this context, the revitalisation of shopping centres is becoming increasingly important: “Shopping centres are the omnichannel stars of tomorrow – provided that owners, operators and tenants think even more strongly from the customer’s point of view and jointly promote approaches such as the further development to cross-media marketplaces”, says Christine Hager.
